What's Hot in Iceland Part 1

NorthernLights

Iceland is on most people’s bucket list and has become a very popular vacation destination. I think of Northern Lights, volcanos and hot springs, but it has so much more. Due to Iceland’s popularity, it’s wise to plan early and consider shoulder season for best pricing. We can help you plan your trip to get the most out of it. Here are just 5 of the top experiences to have when you go to Iceland.

Blue Lagoon Spa – Take your car or a bus to this mineral-rich attraction just minutes from the Keflavik International airport. There are plenty of spa options available due to the geothermic forces and many natural elements. The lagoon is man-made and changed every two days with fresh water.

Skogafoss –Is a one of the largest, most scenic waterfalls in Iceland. It’s almost 200 feet high and about 80 feet wide. It’s the perfect place to see a double rainbow. There is also a legend of gold that lies within the falls. Take your chance and search if you dare…

Whale Watching Tour – Plan a tour that will take you to enjoy whales as well as puffins. The Naturalist will enhance your experience and rare sightings that will leave you in awe. Whale watching is best during the summer months, preferably April through September.

West Fjords – Plan to spend plenty of time exploring the remote WestFjords. You can visit the Icelandic Sea Monster Museum or the famous Látrabjarg cliff. There is much to experience in this area where the mountains are steep and high and the roads windy and narrow. If you are really adventurous, take a kayak tour.

Silfra – If you’re really adventurous snorkeling Silfra is an experience like no other. It’s in Thingvellir National Park and is a crevice between the tectonic plates in North America and Eurasian continents. It is the only place in the world where you can dive between two tectonic plates that shift roughly ½ inch per year. New caverns and tunnels are created by the shifting. There is plenty of wildlife to see on your snorkel. The water is the purest in the world and you are encouraged to drink it while snorkeling.

If this has you thinking you need to plan your trip soon, give us a call. We’d be happy to find out about your wish list and match you up to ensure the trip is everything you hoped for – and more!
