EUROPEAN RIVER CRUISE
DESTINATION GUIDE
This trip is a wonderful way to explore a region with several different rivers while you start and end in two of Europe’s most fascinating cities. You’ll have many opportunities to sample world class wines while being surrounded by the many vineyards flanking the hillsides of the river. History abounds along the river with several opportunities to tour the Manors and Castles. The beauty of a river cruise is how easy it is to see so much of a region, traveling in comfort and unpacking only once. You can partake of the included city tours or go off and explore on your own. There is comfort in exploring all day and coming back to dinner where everyone speaks English, while you enjoy local specialties.

WHEN TO GO
European river cruises have the best weather in July and August. With springtime thaws and showers, the rivers can experience high water and have the possibility to flood, though that doesn’t happen regularly. The fall season also has great weather and has become more popular, especially for wine cruises. Lowest pricing tends to be early (March) season and then again in fall between October through December.
GETTING AROUND
With an itinerary like this, the ship is your floating hotel. We arrange transportation via train or car transfer to and from the cities that you visit before and after the cruise. With the ship typically docking in the heart of downtown, a walking tour of the city is common. Several companies offer bicycle tours which is how many of the locals get around.
